Utilities

  • We understand that reliable access to utilities is critically important to the pharmaceutical industry. Fortunately, we’re in terrific shape there.
  • The Tar River, the Neuse River and underground aquifers offer an abundance of this valuable resource. There is excess water capacity of more than 4mgd in the Greenville MSA alone.
  • Electric providers include: Duke Energy Progress, Dominion Power, the Greenville Utilities Commission, Pitt-Greene EMC, Edgecombe-Martin EMC and several municipalities.
  • Piedmont Natural Gas and the Greenville Utilities Commission provide natural gas service.
  • Several telecommunications options are available, though our largest provider is CenturyLink.

Transportation

  • Our region is blessed with terrific connectivity by land, air and water
  • I-95, I-795, Future I-495 (US 64), US 70 and Future I-587 (US 264) are the region’s primary arteries offering excellent North, South, East and West access.
  • Two mainline railroads operate in our region: Norfolk Southern, CSX Transportation
  • Pitt-Greenville Airport offers daily service to Charlotte Douglas International (the nation’s 6th busiest airport), and Raleigh-Durham International is just a short drive from many of our businesses and residents.
  • There are three deepwater ports within 120 miles: Port of Wilmington, Port of Morehead City and Port of Virginia / Norfolk International Terminals
